DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF HOMEGUARDS

The functions and duties of members of the Home Guards shall be

Manning traffic points.

Service of beats and night patrols,

Service of summons,

Collection of information and intelligence,

Crowd control

To help the police in the maintenance of internal Security

To Promote communal harmony by rendering assistance, to the administration in protecting weaker sections of the society

To participate in the socio- economic and welfare activities such as adult education, health and hygiene, development schemes and such oth- er tasks as are deemed useful.

To allay panic, organize rescue work, provide relief measures during any kind of emergency such as air raid, cyclone, foods, epidemic, earthquake, etc., organize fire fighting and

To have functional units to provide essential services such as motor transport, pioneer and engineer groups, fire brigades, nursing and first- aid, operation of water and power supply installations, etc.,

The Tamil Nadu Home Guards Directorate is functioning at the second floor of the New Annexe Building. DGP Office Campus, Mylapore, Chennai. And the Organization Structure of the Tamil Nadu Home Guards is given below:
